The Way of the Hills

In the rain-shadowed hills of the Puget Sound, we practice the "slow way." Within these hundred-year-old farmhouse walls, I have spent decades surrounding myself with things that endure—antiques, ancient stories, and honest wool.

As a Western folk herbalist and a keeper of the wheel, I take the raw fibers of our herd and transform them into one-of-a-kind treasures. Everything here at The Mossy Spindle is a collaboration between the earth and the imagination—crafted by hand, dyed with local plants, and shared here, one story at a time.

Wild-Spun & Earth-Born

I do not look for the perfection of the factory; I lean into the wild variations of the land. Our fibers are hand-spun right here in the farmhouse, celebrating the unique textures and shifting colors that only come from a heart in the hills.

The Field Notes:
  • The Fiber Shed: Lustrous "Captured Clouds" from our Pygora goats and the "Liquid Silver" locks of Blodwyn the llama.

  • The Botanical Kettle: Fibers dyed in small batches with local plants, roots, and minerals.

  • The Botanical Stillroom/Apothecary: Traditional herbal salves and whimsical kits for the woodland-hearted.

Why Natural?

In a world of "new carpet" smells and hidden plastics, I choose a different path.

Using 100% natural fibers, plant-based dyes & natural ingredients in herbals, means no microplastics and no harsh chemicals—just the pure, honest spirit of the land in every stitch.

Inside The Mossy Spindle

Letters from the Shed:

Between the hum of the spinning wheel and the steam of the dye pots, I am busy gathering the next collection of treasures from the hills. The seasons dictate the work, and the harvest cannot be rushed.

If you’d like to be the first to know when my wild-spun yarns and Earth-Born herbals are ready to find their new homes, I invite you to join The Moss Circle. It is a quiet community for those who love the slow way of doing things—a place for a few shared stories and early access to the studio's latest creations.

May the path be soft under your boots,

— V.
