The Mossy Spindle operates on the rhythm of the harvest, not the speed of the machine. When the shelves are empty, it simply means the studio is 'A-Whir.' I am likely at the wheel spinning a new collection of wild-spun fiber or at the hearth steeping a fresh batch of herbals. Join The Mwsogl Circle to be the first to know when the studio doors swing open and the new treasures are laid out.
Because every lock of wool is dyed by hand and every yarn is spun one at a time, I work in intentional, seasonal collections. I spend many weeks in 'Studio Mode' within the farmhouse walls, prepping a single, cohesive batch of one-of-a-kind treasures.
Once the collection is complete, I 'release the harvest' all at once. Because these items are unique and limited, they often find their new homes quickly—moving from our hearth to yours in a heartbeat.
The best way to participate is to join The Mwsogl Circle. I send out a special 'Tidings' email to my list with the exact date and hour the shop gates will open, giving you the first opportunity to claim a piece before it is gone.
To ensure every parcel is packed with heritage care, I set aside the Monday and Tuesday immediately following a Shop Harvest specifically for posting. As this is a working farm, this rhythm allows me to step away from the wheel and the herd to focus entirely on getting your wool and herbals safely out the gate.
We use USPS for all deliveries. As soon as your package begins its trek across the hills, a tracking number will be sent to your inbox via a 'Tidings' notification, allowing you to follow its journey from our farmhouse to yours."
Yes! If you dwell near Port Orchard or the surrounding hills, I am happy to offer local pickup. Simply select 'Local Pickup' at checkout to bypass the post fees.
Once your order is gathered, I will send a message to coordinate a time for you to collect your parcel. Please remember that as this is a working farm and private sanctuary, we ask that all visits be arranged in advance to ensure the gate is open and the dogs are settled. We look forward to a brief hello across the threshold.
Within The Wool Room, every selection is clearly marked as either 'In the Grease' (raw, straight from the shears) or 'Scoured' (cleansed and prepped in the studio).
Regardless of its state, please remember that these are living fibers harvested from the hillside. You may occasionally find a tiny speck of 'VM' (vegetable matter)—bits of sun-dried hay or a stray seed—tucked within the locks. Consider these small, rustic signatures from the happy animals and the golden pastures where they roam.
While the silken fleeces of Blodwyn and our Welsh-named herd are the heartbeat of the studio, certain crafts require textures that our residents simply do not grow. To provide the right materials for every maker, I occasionally invite 'kindred fleeces' from outside our gates.
When I do, I look for kindred spirits in the fiber world—choosing local and ethically raised fleeces from neighboring homesteads here in the Puget Sound hills. Whether the fiber grew in our own pastures or at a nearby farm, every lock is chosen for its character and processed with the same slow-craft dedication here in our century-old studio.
As these are natural fibers from living farms, you may occasionally find a tiny speck of 'VM' (vegetable matter)—a small, rustic signature from the happy animals and the golden pastures where they roam."
Due to the intimate, small-batch nature of our earth-born herbals and hand-prepped fibers, all sales are final. I am unable to offer refunds or exchanges once a selection of wares has left the farm gates.
However, I want you to be delighted with your harvest! If the mist has clouded my eyes and I have accidentally sent the wrong item, or if there is a genuine oversight on my part, please Send Tidings to the studio within 7 days of your package’s arrival. Include a quick note and a photo, and I will do everything in my power to make it right."
In my studio and apothecary, I keep things simple. By using only 100% natural fibers, botanical dyes and other ingredients, I ensure that every product is free from the synthetic coatings and microplastics often found in mass-produced goods. It’s my way of making sure that what you bring into your 'hearth' is pure, honest, and safe to hold close.
Letters from across the hills are always welcome. Whether you have a question about a particular skein, a curiosity about the apothecary, or simply wish to share a story from your own hearth, I look forward to hearing from you.
A note on the pace of things: Life at The Mossy Spindle moves with the seasons. If the dye pots are steaming or the herd needs tending, you might find me away from my desk for a bit. I tend to my correspondence with the same "slow craft" approach I take to my wool, and I will be sure to reply as soon as the day’s work is done—usually within a day or two, Tuesday through Saturday.
